Concord, Massachusetts, is a town in Middlesex County. Before it became an incorporated community, it was a place called Musketaquid, which is an Algonquian term for “grassy plain.” It’s most well-known for being the location of the Battle of Lexington and Concord, an event that commenced the American Revolutionary War. Today Concord has a population of approximately 20,000 residents.
Concord is a Boston suburb that not only played a role in America’s independence; it was where 19th-century authors like Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau wrote their famous works. It’s also where the Concord grape was born, a fruit used in juice, pies, and other products. This gorgeous New England town is filled with robust business centers, open spaces, lush parks, and other features. You can learn a lot about the town’s history at the Concord Museum. It even has exhibits from the Thoreau family. Valley Sports Arena is the community’s ice skating hub. It also has lessons, camps, and leagues. The Thoreau Club is an exercise center for all ages. It offers a spa, tennis, youth programs, fitness training, and much more. If you have young children, you can take them to Rideout Playground. Beyond the playground, it has basketball courts, ball fields, and tennis courts. Rideout Playground is next to Warner’s Pond, which is a popular spot for outdoor skating during winter. Also of interest to prospective homebuyers with children, there are nine schools in Concord: three public elementary schools, one public middle school, one public high school, and four private schools.
